The heart of what we believe
The beliefs and convictions we hold about life shape the way we live in this world. At Oakland Woods our beliefs are rooted in the divinely inspired and inerrant Scriptures that reveal the good news of the redemptive work God accomplished through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ — graciously received by faith for all who believe.
The Scriptures
The Bible is the divinely inspired, inerrant Word of God — fully sufficient to reveal the gospel of Jesus Christ and to guide every part of life and faith.
2 Timothy 3:16-17God
There is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — perfect in holiness, love, justice, and power.
Deuteronomy 6:4 · Matthew 28:19Jesus Christ
Jesus is fully God and fully man, born of the virgin Mary, who lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily from the grave, and now reigns in heaven.
John 1:1, 14 · 1 Corinthians 15:3-4Salvation
Salvation is the gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone — apart from any work of our own. Those who believe are forgiven, born again, and adopted into God's family.
Ephesians 2:8-10The Church
The church is a body of baptized believers gathered to worship Christ, preach the Word, observe the ordinances, love one another, and take the gospel to the world.
Acts 2:42-47The Return of Christ
Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to judge the living and the dead, and to bring His people into the joy of His eternal kingdom.
Acts 1:11 · Revelation 22:12-13A historic summary — the Apostles' Creed
We believe...
We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to death. On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
